Senior QA Manager
Overview
Arbor Networks is seeking an individual with excellent technical and communication skills to lead the Pravail product line testing efforts and further the Arbor goal of delivering high quality software products. In this role, the candidate will manage a team of QA engineers in multiple locations responsible for overall test plan composition and execution. The candidate will guide efforts ensuring maximum test coverage while balancing release dates, anticipated feature delivery and managing overall quality risk. The candidate will work closely with Product Management, Development and Documentation teams in an Agile Software Development environment and guide the line manager efforts. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for directly managing an offshore QA team. Some travel will be required for this position.
This position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance and will be based out of Ann Arbor, MI or Burlington, MA.
Duties
- Handle all aspects of personnel management: interviewing, hiring, setting employee objectives, career development, coaching and measuring successes
- Responsible for maintaining best practices among the QA engineering team
- Ensure team members have the tools and autonomy needed to creatively test the Pravail product line
- Provide weekly status updates on team progress, successes, risks and challenges
- Mediate among various groups and departments to resolve problems, remove ambiguity and set clear expectations
- Oversee test automation activities to best achieve maximum regression test case coverage
- Direct the efforts of the Burlington QA testlab function
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated success in leading a software testing effort for a commercial software product.
- Demonstrated ability to set, execute and achieve quality goals for commercial software product
- Experience in developing or testing large (preferably distributed) systems
- Demonstrated success in prioritizing, managing and keeping focus on multiple projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of networking and basic core Internet protocols (e.g. distributed networks, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, etc)
- 5+ years of commercial quality management experience
- BS or BSE in computer science/engineering, or equivalent experience
Desired Technical Skills and Qualifications
- Scripting language expertise (TCL or Python desirable) in a Linux environment
- Network and host security (firewall, IDS) QA/development expeience
- Network management, host or network security background; CISSP desirable
- Experience with a real-time operating system (RTOS) highly desirable
- Experience working with bugzilla or similar defect tracking system
- Experience with large Enterprise-level traffic generation products (Ixia, BreakingPoint, Mu Dynamics, Shenick diversifEye, others)
